Case Study

  Moss Landing, California USA

Aluma Systems provides integrated services to Fluor Constructors on the modernization of the Moss Landing Power Plant.

Four new units are being built on the site, and the main part of the Aluma Systems contract involves supplying scaffolding material and labor services to build access structures both inside and outside of vessels.

In addition, our versatile Aluma Hand Set forming system, which can easily be used on both vertical and horizontal structures, is being put to work on the forming of various slabs, walls and columns.

In one case, Aluma Systems used its expertise and a wide range of products to erect and dismantle the shoring of two turbine pedestals, 100 ft. long, 40 ft. wide and 35 ft. high. Working in four stages, we used Sure Lock® modular scaffolding around the vertical structures for access and Aluma Hand Set to form the columns supporting the pedestal's tabletop. We then erected the shoring with Aluma Beam® and Stringers, and placed the plywood for the tabletop. The last step, once the concrete was poured and the structure was solid, involved removal of plywood, stringers, beams and shoring frames.
