As part of the construction of the Waldorf Astoria Residences Guanacaste, Aluma Systems supplied engineered wall and slab formwork solutions for one of Costa Rica's most prestigious luxury hospitality developments.
Located on a 70,000 m² site overlooking the Pacific coast, the project includes 190 hotel rooms and suites, 25 branded private residences, five five-storey buildings, a central lobby and restaurant, and more than 40,000 m² of total construction. Operated by Hilton, the development combines luxury hospitality with high-end residential living in one of Central America's premier resort destinations.
The construction schedule required highly productive formwork systems capable of supporting multiple work fronts simultaneously while maintaining consistent quality throughout the project.
With several buildings under construction at the same time, the contractor required efficient wall and slab formwork systems that maximized productivity, reduced cycle times and ensured continuous equipment availability to meet the demanding completion schedule.
Aluma Systems worked closely with Edificar S.A. to develop an integrated formwork solution tailored to the project's construction sequence and productivity requirements.
The RASTO wall formwork system provided fast and accurate construction of reinforced concrete walls, while the TOPEC modular slab formwork system enabled efficient slab construction across the different buildings within the development.
As the first project in Costa Rica to utilize the TOPEC modular slab formwork system, the development demonstrated the system's ability to accelerate construction while maintaining high-quality concrete finishes and improving jobsite efficiency. Throughout the project, Aluma Systems complemented its equipment supply with engineering expertise, technical support and reliable equipment availability, helping the contractor achieve an efficient construction process across all project phases.
