As part of the expansion of National Route 32, the existing bridge over the Virilla River is being rehabilitated to increase traffic capacity and significantly extend its service life. The project includes strengthening the bridge foundations, piers and deck of the existing 285 m-long structure, while widening the bridge from two to three traffic lanes to achieve a total width of 13.1 m.
The bridge consists of seven spans, including three box girder sections and four precast beam sections. In addition to increasing traffic capacity, the rehabilitation works will bring the bridge into compliance with current national and international seismic design standards while repairing structural deficiencies identified during inspections.
Rehabilitating an existing bridge in a confined work environment with challenging site topography required highly adaptable formwork, shoring and access solutions.
The project involved single-sided formwork for foundations and piers, the construction of new abutments, and working platforms supported by the existing bridge structure. Continuous equipment availability and efficient logistics were essential to keep the project progressing safely and on schedule.

The project utilized RASTO, MK II Soldier, QES, Steel-Ply and EUROPLUS systems to support the construction of foundations, piers and other structural elements. In addition to supplying equipment, Aluma Systems provided engineering, on-site technical supervision and customized solutions for single-sided formwork, climbing platforms and complex access requirements in difficult terrain.
