2010-12-13 Getting on board with Help for Heroes charity event
Harsco Infrastructure, one of the UK’s leading access, formwork and shoring suppliers, has offered their expertise to help JCB raise money for Help the Heroes, the charity which aims to help those injured in Britain’s current conflicts.
JCB unveiled their Help for Heroes Thames Barge campaign on December 8th, at London Television Studios. This event marks the start of their Christmas charity auction whereby a JCB Union Jack 3CX Eco Backhoe Loader is being auctioned to the highest bidder. All proceeds are donated to the Help the Heroes rehabilitation complex at Headley Court, Surrey. The JCB diggers are made available for public viewing during December by floating them on a barge on the Thames through London.
Adrian Hall of JCB commented ‘We were delighted that Harsco Infrastructure were able to offer the expertise, and practical support to get this project off the ground. This involved providing a design engineer, construction materials and advice to enable the Cory Environmental barge to become a heavy-duty platform capable of supporting the diggers securely throughout their journey. This involved the use of MkII Soldiers, 12 steel beams, GRP plates and conventional tube and fittings free of charge throughout the project.’
Taddy Mcauley, Branch Manager of Harsco Infrastructure in Brixton concluded ‘This was an unusual project which combined technical insight and creative thinking to deliver the required result. We enjoyed doing our bit to help and wish JCB every success with their Help the Heroes Christmas Campaign.’
