Performance

The steel rotary bridge in Nowakowo is part of the task of modernising the Elbląg Canal, which is part of a strategic investment connecting the Vistula Lagoon with the Gulf of Gdansk and the Baltic Sea. As Hunnebeck Poland we were supporting our customer budimex S.A., the biggest construction comapny in Poland.

As part of this task, we supplied equipment for the implementation of five supports - the bridge rests on a selection of three supports depending on whether it is 'open' or 'closed'.

The most important of these is the P2 support, which is the pivot point of the bridge. It was constructed as a reinforced concrete box and will house the pivot mechanism of the bridge. The foundations and walls of the 1-metre-thick body were made using the MANTO® system. It was equipped with PLATINUM® system concrete platforms, which ensure safe vertical and horizontal mobility. For the top slab, ID 15new towers and EUROPLUS®new props were used along with the TOPFLEX® system.

Supports P1` and P3`, on which the bridge rests in the resting phase, were constructed as three circular columns, in our system steel forms, 3 m high, connected by a reinforced concrete cap supported on the ID 15new system towers and EUROPLUS®new supports. The edge protection of the formwork for all supports was designed using the PROTECTO® system.
