Grand Tower Frankfurt

Germany's tallest residential building grows steadily

Scope

Sophisticated formwork concept for reduced crane times

Challenge

Changing floor plans, little space, limited crane times.

Performance

Changing floor plans, little space, limited crane times. This is a sum up of the difficult construction site conditions at Frankfurt's Grand Tower project. A cleverly thought-out formwork concept and the use of Hünnebeck formwork and safety systems have nevertheless allowed the shell to grow rapidly. The "Safescreen" rentable windshield system developed by Hünnebeck UK was implemented for the first time in Germany.

With the 172 m high "Grand Tower", Germany's tallest residential tower has been under construction in Frankfurt's Europaviertel since 2016. The client and project developer for this major project is gsp Städtebau GmbH, Berlin. The diamond-shaped tower comprises a total of 55,000 m2 of gross floor space, distributed over one basement floor, three technical floors and 47 floors with 401 apartments. The property is expected to be ready for occupancy as early as 2019.
